Johansen Skovsted Arkitekter
TUNA, CHARD, OIL
Johansen Skovsted Arkitekter’s portfolio is particularly relevant to workplace architecture and carefully designed interior environments, with an approach centred on materiality, craftsmanship, spatial quality and the relationship between architecture and everyday use. A significant example is the CODAN Office and Warehouse in Køge, where the studio transformed a functional corporate programme into a highly considered workplace environment. Offices, meeting rooms and operational areas are connected through generous communal spaces and a central dining area, while timber, plywood and carefully selected finishes introduce an almost residential quality into the workplace. The project demonstrates the studio’s ability to bring architectural identity, material sophistication and human-scale interiors into corporate and directional spaces, rather than treating workplace architecture as purely functional. CODAN was also nominated for the EU Mies Award.

The studio combines interior and graphic design to develop a complete identity for each project, with particular attention to atmosphere, materials, furniture, art and visual storytelling. Agenzia Tonen Among its key hospitality projects is Hotel Bella Grande in Copenhagen, where TONEN designed the interiors of the boutique hotel and its restaurant Donna, creating a contemporary hospitality concept inspired by Italian design and the historic character of the original 1899 building. Their portfolio also includes Coco Hotel, another Copenhagen boutique hotel, as well as restaurant projects such as Olise and Superbon. Through these projects, TONEN demonstrates a strong ability to connect hospitality, food, interior design and brand identity, creating environments in which the overall guest experience is as important as the individual design elements.
